Cathedrals of Bamboo and Beachside Calm on the East Sea

Trường Sa Road, Hòa Hải, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Đà Nẵng, Việt Nam

Designed by architect Vo Trong Nghia as a monument to bamboo engineering and dense tropical horticulture, Naman Retreat is a striking beachfront sanctuary that works hard to justify its premium price tag. Stepping into the resort is like entering a giant, living green screen where the heat of the Da Nang coast is instantly swallowed by soaring vaulted arches and cascading gardens. The design pays homage to traditional Vietnamese communal pavilions, utilizing vernacular construction techniques to bind raw bamboo into self-supporting, cathedral-like structures.

Hai Van Pass Fog

Sudden sea fog drops visibility to under five metres on the northern slope after 16:30 in the rainy season. Slow down, keep your headlights low, and avoid overtaking container trucks.

Blue bottle stings are common from late June to early August. Lifeguards have lime and vinegar at their towers. Avoid swimming during high noon when the wind blows onshore.

Google Maps will lead you to a brick wall. Ask Tho Quang locals for directions to alley K139/59. Avoid going after 18:00 as they routinely run out of the freshest catch.

Notable issues with service, quality, or value. There are too many great places in Da Nang to spend your time here.

Just Okay

It’s fine. If you’re in the neighborhood and hungry, it’ll do the trick, but it’s not somewhere you’d go out of your way for.

Solid Choice

A very good, reliable spot. You’ll have a great time and a great meal. It’s the kind of place you’re happy to have in your regular rotation.

Great

An 8 should be on your must-try list, because 8s are great. These spots are worth making an effort or crossing town for. High 8 territory is where we start approaching excellence.
